RockFig Safari Lodge
Timbavati Game Reserve, South Africa

RockFig Safari Lodge in Timbavati Game Reserve offers premier luxury and hospitality, where white lions, leopards and African wild dogs roam.

There’s something special about RockFig, and it’s not just because it’s an absolutely gorgeous safari lodge in Timbavati Game Reserve, offering unparalleled luxury for nature-aficionados from across the globe. It was built from love from the ground up, by the Jenkins family, whose personal touch can still be felt from within every corner.

On their very first game drive on the land where it now stands, Glen and Bruce Jenkins unexpectedly came across an unusually relaxed female leopard gazing down upon them from the fork of a large tree― a RockFig tree, which then inspired its name.

As a guest at RockFig each day will be an effortless blend of exclusivity, relaxation and indulgence, tailored to meet your every need. From the well-designed indoor and outdoor guest spaces, an open-plan kitchen, to the viewing deck overlooking the waterhole. Each moment spent here is spent well, without ever distracting from that harmonious “I’m in the wilderness” sensibility.

While the 4x4 game drives and bush walks are always a top favourite, some of the best moments will be spent by the fireplace in the lounge, or rather out in the boma during shared dinners and safari stories of your game viewing encounters: a skulking white lion, or a lucky encounter with a pack of African wild dogs. RockFig is just the kind of place to bring you even closer to the bush, without feeling that you’re missing out on anything.

What’s also great about this safari lodge in the Timbavati Game Reserve, is that you can book it for your exclusive use for families or groups of friends. Children of all ages are always welcome.

Why we love it and you will too

  • A highlight of any stay at RockFig Safari Lodge is the guided walking safari and the opportunity to experience Timbavati on foot to discover fascinating smaller creatures, including the ‘little five’.
  • Every game drive is conducted by an experienced guide behind the wheel and a local tracker perched up front, where he can best spot tracks and signs. Game drives are limited to a maximum of 4 guests at a time, and families are guaranteed a private safari vehicle at no extra cost.
  • With no fences between Timbavati Private Nature Reserve and Kruger National Park, animals are free to come and go, making this one of South Africa’s richest wildlife areas, and home to all the members of the Big 5.
  • The Timbavati’s best-known residents are undoubtedly its white lions but it is also home to leopard (descendants of the original RockFig leopard) and the elusive African wild dog.
  • As there are fewer safari groups here, RockFig guests can typically spend more time at each sighting. The 3,500ha area around RockFig is shared with just one other lodge.
  • You won't go hungry here! A team of top-notch RockFig chefs will treat your palate to a taste safari, preparing some of the most inventive and out-of-this-world cuisine you'll ever have, in the most gorgeous and intimate settings.
