Safari at Ngala Tented Camp

This Timbavati safari lodge is in game rich country with the 'Big Five' (both Black and White Rhino, with the area being home to a crash of resident Black Rhino). This private reserve also prides itself in an array of animals and birds.

Game Viewing

There are excellent game viewing opportunities at Ngala Tented Camp, which are complemented by other activities such as helicopter flights, moonlit bush dinners and spectacular bush sundowners on your African safari. Daily game drives in open game-viewing vehicles, and guided nature walks on the reserve are included.

Game Drives

Embark on exciting exciting game drives in your specialised safari vehicles. An expert ranger will escort you through the Timbavati Game Reserve in search for the Big Five and an abundance of other wildlife.

Ngala Treehouse Experience

Just 5 km from camp, Ngala Treehouse rises 4 levels above the bush to offer a private, off-grid wilderness sleepout with a luxurious touch. The 1st level has a kitchen and dining area, while the 2nd level boasts a bathroom with a shower. The 3rd level holds a weatherproof room with a king-size bed, while the top deck lets you drift off under the stars beneath a retractable awning.

Sundowners, a starlit picnic, and dinner set the mood, with a stocked bar and midnight snacks adding comfort. Blending exclusivity, seclusion, and the magic of the wild, this is an unforgettable overnight experience that perfectly complements a stay at Ngala.

Activities at the Timbavati River

Spectacular al fresco dinners in the riverbed promise to be an unforgettable experience. (The Timbavati comes down in flood once or twice a year. For the remainder of the year, it is an impressive dry riverbed featuring islands of reeds - a birdwatcher's paradise).

Leisure Time

At Ngala Tented Camp you can relax in stylish comfort inbetween safari activities. A massage in the spa or out on the deck is a great way to ease your muscles.

Lounge by the elegant rim-flow pool, which merges with the contours of the riverbank - this is the perfect place for a refreshing swim. From here you can watch prides of Lions lolling in the sun and huge herds of Buffalo or Elephant crossing the wide, dry river-bed.

The combination of habitats attracts not only herds of Elephant, but also an abundance of buffalo, white rhino, giraffe and antelope, while Africa's great cats - lion, leopard and cheetah stalk silently in their tracks.
