Safari at Kings Camp

Situated in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve which forms part of the greater Kruger National Park, Kings Camp offers a range of guided game viewing activities.

Take on the Timbavati

The guided game drives top the agenda at Kings Camp which ambles through the northern reaches of the Timbavati. These depart in the early morning and late afternoon when the sun is not as fierce and the energy levels of animals are at their highest.

With an experienced driver-guide and tracker at your side, you’ll quickly come across a bucket list of ‘safari specials’, such as prides of lions, hyenas, herds of African tuskers, buffalos, giraffes, warthogs and many more.

Step Out into the Savannah

While we all love our game drives, and there is a certain magic about trekking on foot through the African bush. At Kings Camp you can embark on walking safaris led by experienced (and armed) trackers who will not only impart their skills of tracking, but will also open you up to the smaller details of the bush that an untrained eye would miss. Since the walks are less intrusive (no roaring engine), it’s also a ripe opportunity for avid bird watchers to tick off a few more bird sightings.

Dine Like a King

We’re listing meals at Kings Camp as an activity because, each is very much a unique experience that is carefully planned by the staff and exquisitely executed from start to finish. The cuisine alone is an adventure in its own right, and the attentive service and various settings certainly make an impact. Think candle-lit bush dinners, breakfast amongst the birds and hearty feasts served by the roaring fire in the traditional Boma. There is also an opportunity to partake in some fine dining in the regal dining room.

A Few More Activities

A fantastic way to pass an hour is to visit the Kings Camp underground Hide, where you can get a window seat to watch elephants and wildlife gather for a drink at the waterhole.

Within roughly an hour’s drive of Kings Camp you’ll have access to a wide range of activities and experiences. Meet some rehabilitated ellies at Elephant Whispers and pay a visit to the Moholoholo Wildlife Centre with its various patients consisting of abandoned, and injured lions, rhinos, leopards, honey badgers, eagles and vultures.

Take part in some rhino microchipping, and if you’re craving to see everything from the sky, we can also arrange a private helicopter ride or a sunrise hot air balloon safari.
