This private safari camp in the Greater Kruger National Park is located in an exclusive corner of Big Five country. The Timbavati Game Reserve (or Timbavati Private Nature Reserve), South Africa is a pristine setting for tailor-made safaris and game viewing.
The Timbavati Private Game Reserve in South Africa came into existence in the mid 1950’s when a group of conservation-minded people who owned game farms on the western boundary of the Kruger National Park, came together to form the Timbavati Association.
Waterbuck Private Camp is situated in the Kings Camp Private Game Reserve which is part of the Timbavati Private Game Reserve. Guests can easily access the villa by air or road.
There are daily flights on Federal Air from Johannesburg OR Tambo International Airport direct to Kings Camp. Guests can also be transferred by another air charter service from Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA) in Nelspruit to Kings Camp.
Guests can fly on commercial airlines from major centres in South Africa to local airports e.g. SA Express to Eastgate Airport and SA Airlink to KMIA. The camp will arrange connecting road transfers from the airport to the camp.
For private air charters or guests with their own aircraft, Kings Camp has a tarred landing strip (length: 900metres).
Road transfers to connect with flight itineraries can be arranged from local airports such as Eastgate Airport and KMIA to the camp. Self-drive guests can also drive from Gauteng to Waterbuck Private Camp. The journey by road from Johannesburg / Pretoria takes about 6 hours.
Please note: There are cash only conservation fees payable for entry into Timbavati Private Nature Reserve (per car and per guest).
Take the N4 to Witbank Take the Belfast off-ramp (R33 / R540) Once in Belfast town, turn right into Voortrekker Street and continue straight to Dullstroom on the R540 Drive straight through Dullstroom town and keep straight to Lydenburg Once in Lydenburg turn left into Potgieter Street and continue straight to Ohrighstad on the R36 Drive straight past Ohrigstad and continue on the R36 until it turns left to Tzaneen. DO NOT turn, but continue straight on R527 to Hoedspruit. In Hoedspruit, continue straight over the bridge crossing the train line to a four way stop. At the stop turn right and continue towards Bosbokrand / Bushbuckridge along the R40
About 7km (4 miles) from Hoedspruit, note the Kings Camp sign and Eastgate Airport sign on your left hand side. At the sign, turn left to Kings Camp Drive for about 19km (11 miles) on tar, and then a further 9km (5 miles) on gravel until you reach the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve At the entrance gate, you will be required to pay an entrance fee Continue straight for 8km (5 miles) until you see a Kings Camp sign on your left hand side. Turn right at the sign, and follow the signboards to the camp for an additional 2km (1.2 miles).
