With a traversing area of more than 10 000 hectares (24 000 acres), over 40 mammal and 350 bird species, Umlani Bushcamp in the Timbavati offers its guests a wonderful wildlife experience. Umlani is an exclusive rustic lodge accommodating only 16 guests in en-suite reed and thatch rondavels.
Umlani Bushcamp offers game drives in open 4 wheel drive vehicles that go out early morning and evening accompanied by experienced rangers and trackers. Guests can take walks on the wild side by tracking the Big Five on foot and experience the thrill of following the big game off-road in an open Land Rover.
All the members of the Big Five (Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo) are sighted at Umlani Bushcamp in Timbavati Private Game Reserve along with Cheetah, Giraffe, Zebra and many species of antelope. You'll become involved with big and small game, the prolific bird life and be fascinated by the diverse flora and fauna.
Enjoy a spectacular sunrise deep in the bush before returning to the Bushcamp for a hearty breakfast. Spend the heat of the day with a cool box of refreshments at one of the hides watching birds swoop down to the water and mammals materialising out of the bush. Or maybe laze in hammocks around the plunge pool sipping iced chilled drinks.
